I connote that the 'young boy in ruffled clothing' shows that he is living his life in poverty which can make the audience feel sympathetic. the boy's saddened expression tells us that he is struggling without water. this is also shown in the tagline where it says " dig toilets, not graves" which can alarm the audience of the conditions he's living in , creating a sense of urgency and encouraging them to make more donations. In the tagline, " dig toilets, not graves", shows that their living conditions are becoming fatal with the absence of water, which can make the audience feel more responsive, which can lead to the company luring a wide range of supporters, increasing the profit of their business.
